Ohhhh Tom! I was rooting for you in the British Open. I think I knew it was over when you missed that putt on 18. You could see the deflation. You were cooked right then and there.

It's all about the flag

Golden Barefoot Golf has been my passion for nearly twenty years. On that site I explore the game subjectively as Taylor Spalding, the recovering goof. It is a mix of philosophy, mysticism, aesthetics, neuroscience, chaos theory, and sacred science.

Subjective as the site it is, I have held my political tongue. The site is controversial enough as it stands. It does not need to serve as a political entity.

What really fired me up to write this blog was having to listen to the nagging criticism of Northern Trust for sponsoring something as EVIL as a golf tournament. Golf is the game of capitalism, freedom, and democracy. To castigate a sponsor for engaging in legitimate commerce is the real evil here. Think about this. The players receive economic stimulus for completing; the venue receives economic stimulus for hosting; the charities benefit from the PGA; the public benefits from the entertainment value; television enjoys ad revenue; sellers of golf equipment benefit. Yet somehow the sponsor is vilified. Much of this TARP money was force fed to these banks. Don't buy into this Federal Government diversionary tactic. Listening to this garbage from the radical left was the line in the sand for me. Now the great game itself is under assault. "Screw you!" is all I have to say to the Statists.
